Community Annotation of Pan-Gene Models 

• About
  • WebApollo is a generic browser-based tool developed by GMOD for visualization and editing of sequence annotations. It is designed for distributed community annotation efforts, where numerous people may be working on the same sequences in geographically different locations; real-time updating keeps all users in sync during the editing process. This provides the MBGP with the opportunity to generate consensus annotation based on community-wide expertise.
  • May 2021: with the publication in Nature Plants of the aligned reference Brassica pan-genomes having consistent MBGP gene nomenclature, it is now timely to explore detailed systematic annotation based on community-sourced evidence.


• How to use - community interaction
• The default settings allow any user to view current annotation for the relevant genome. More details and user guide will be available here soon
• Registered users are able to add new annotation tracks and edit/enhance gene models according to their specific expertise and evidence base


• Hosting
  • This WebApollo portal is hosted by Australian BioCommons in conjuction with QCIF  


• Online now:
  • go to the WebApollo  Brassica rapa subsp. trilocularis R-o-18 genome assembly
  • R-o-18 is the first genome assembly with pan-genome annotation available in an INSDC (NCBI, ENA, DDBJ) database.
