map integration
Alignment of genetic linkage maps
There is ongoing effort between a number of laboratories to align and orientate existing genetic linkage maps, so that they may be integrated and provide greater resolution. Additional efforts associated with the
MBrSP Sequencing project are ensuring that there is easy navigation between genetic maps and genome sequence.
- Agreed linkage group assignments
- Integration of B. rapa linkage maps
in Korea
- Development of Brassica Consensus Integratd Maps is being carried out, and will enable navigation between Brassica genetic maps and the Arabidopsis genome, based on conserved collinearity blocks. This effort, co-ordinated by the King lab, is compiling published reference genetic linkage maps and reference sets of sequence-tagged markers, together with the reference gentoype matrix files provided by the originating laboratories.
- The information that is being collated on this website complements a reference publication, currently being prepared by Derek Lydiate and Graham King in collaboration with other laboratories. The papert will provide details of the relationships between the consensus linkage group nomenclature and the nomenclatures used historically by the leading Brassica genetic/cytology/genomics research groups. The paper will also provide information on the resources (populations and markers) that are available to promote successful positioning of new genes on Brassica genomes, and to promote the accurate alignment of new Brassica maps with the standard representations/nomenclatures of the Brassica genomes. This will include an outline of the historic accumulation of evidence and series of deductions that have enabled identification and alignment of each diploid chromosome in each of the reference populations, together with a summary of the alignments themselves. Together with data curated on this website, this will provide a key to the relationships between Brassica maps and populations that have been developed in different laboratories over the past two decades.
